This award is for those special few who have embraced the information learned in their CNY communities and have gone on to do notable national or International work in their dance careers with also never forgetting to keep a contributing investment of connection to the community that nurtured them. “The Other New York Dance Awards” celebrate local dance communities around Auburn and bridge Upstate and Downstate Dance, allowing the world to acknowledge the dance contributions of the entire Empire State. Executive Producer Sean McLeod and the New York Dance Festival International Selection Committee recognize world-class contributors consisting of dance teachers on the front lines of the dance industry and incredible dancers, choreographers, and supporters of dance. The people who dare to have a dream for dance and make it accessible to dancers from off the street beginners to world-class professionals. These award recipients are the lifeblood of the dance industry and have founded the schools and programs that many NYC and international dancers call home.
